Since 1814 EMBUTIDOS SOLÀ S.A. has manufactured its products according to the age-old recipes of the master butchers of Vic, a city which stands out in the production of excellent sausages due to its strategic environmental location.
With the incorporation of the latest technology, our company brand was the first to obtain the geographical denomination of quality "Llonganissa de Vic”, and SOLÀ guarantees a unique and exclusive level of quality for all its products.
Written references to Vic sausages go back to 1456, although some 4th century writings already refer to the origin of the sausage. Before this it was made on farms in the area as a method of conserving the best cuts of meat. Today with over a century’s tradition, at EMBUTIDOS SOLÀ, we still respect the old recipes which came out of the unique environment of the Plain of Vic and which are the heritage of over three generations of master butchers.
Where we are
The Plain of Vic is situated in the Osona region of the province of Barcelona. This area is a wide channel between the Pyrenees and the coastal depression, with 600 Km2 and an altitude of approximately 500 metres above sea level. This particular orography, which causes a contrast between the humid air of the Mediterranean and the numerous days of fog on the plain, provides exceptional conditions and gives our products their unmistakeable smell and flavour, which have won them a reputation and prestige at both national and international levels.

At EMBUTIDOS SOLÀ we manufacture top quality products. Special mention must go to our star product , Llonganissa Llegítima of Vic. With the purpose of guaranteeing our sausages we are subject to strict controls by the Regulatory Council of the Geographical Protected Indication Llonganissa of Vic (IGP). These controls are subject to external audits in order to meet the requirements of norms established and approved by the European Union. Parallel to this, an analytical control corroborates that the products comply with the required criteria of quality.
All of our products are made from pork (ham, palette or first-class loin) which is minced and mixed with bacon, salt and black pepper. When these ingredients have been mixed the resulting paste is softened in cold-storage rooms. The sausage meat is then fed into different types of casing which determine the calibre, weight and length of the pieces. Finally they are left in dark rooms so that the combination of the cold, dry air from the north and the hot, humid air from the Mediterranean give our products their characteristic smell and flavour.
Our factory installations
EMBUTIDOS SOLÀ is constantly growing and looking to the future. Our zeal in offering the best quality in our products and the confidence that day after day our clients show us, have led us to carry out an extensive project of improvements in our factory, which is located in Gurb.
